Fencing with the Dagger or Combat Dagger / Seven important Rules.
I
Sticht die einer von oben nider zu dem gsicht oder brust / so verfar mit deinem lincken arm / und greiff mit der lincken hand von innwendig aussen über seinen rechten arm / unnd truck ihn fast in dein lincke seitten / unnd stich ihn dann mit deinem tolchen zu seinem angsicht.
If one stabs from above down to your face or chest / then drive forward with the left arm / and with the left hand grasp out from the inside over his right arm / and press him hard into your left side / and then stab him in the face with your dagger.
II
Thut er ob er dir zu deim gsicht will stechen / und macht dir einen Fehler / unnd will dich in die seitten stechen / So empfahe du den stich in deinen lincken arm / und wind dan mit deiner lincken handt, von unden auff über sein rechte handt / und truck fast an deine brust / und stich ihm mit deim tolch zum gesicht.
If he moves as if he will stab to your face / and makes a feint to you / and will stab you in the side / then block the stab with your left arm / and then twist your left hand up from below over onto his right hand / and press hard onto your chest / and stab him to the face with your dagger.

Hat er den dolch gefaßt das das die scheibe bei seinem daumen stehet / und sticht dir von oben zu gesicht / so far mit deint linckne hand von unden auff inwendig seins rechten arms / und aussen über seiner rechten handt / und fahe ihm die handt mit dem tolch in dein lincke uchsen / und setz ihm an.
If he holds the dagger so that the disk stands by his thumb / and stabs to your face from above / then with your left hand drive up inward from below to his right arm / and out over his right hand / and trap his right hand in your left armpit / and attack him.

Hat er sein tolch das die scheibe bei dem daumen stehet / unnd sticht dir zur seitten oder gemacht / so far mit deinr lincken handt von oben nider / und stich mit deinem tolch under sein rechte hand undersich / und mit deiner rechten übersich heb / und truck fast an dein brust / und schwing dich von ihm auff dein rechte seitten.
If he holds the dagger so that the disk stands by the thumb / and stabs to your side or torso / then with your left hand drive downward from above / and stab your dagger low under his right hand / and raise it up with your right hand / and press it hard to your chest / and twist yourself from him on your right side.

Hat er den tolch gefaßt das die scheiben an seinem kleynen finger steht / und sticht dir von oben nider / so faß du dein tolch / unnd stich unden auff von deinr lincken seiten / gegen seinem stich / über sein rechte handt / und greiff mit deiner lincken handt under dein rechte in dein klingen und truck dein arm vest zu seinem / und ruck undersich / das ist das verliesen.
If he holds the dagger so that the disk stands on his little finger / and stabs down to you from above / then hold your dagger / and stab up from low on your left side / against his stab / over his right hand / and with your left hand grasp up under his right to your blade and push your arm hard on his / and pull downward / this is the trap.

Hat er sein tolch gezogen / und du deinen nit / und sticht dir oben zu / so far mit deinem rechten arm von unden auff / und greiff im mit deiner rechten handt hinder sein rechte / und far mit deiner lincken handt von unden uff sein rechten elnpogen / und nim ihm den arm gar über den lincken arm und wirff ihn.
If he has drawn his dagger / but you have not / and he stabs above to you / then drive up from below with your right arm / and grasp him with your right hand behind his right / and drive your left hand up from below to his right elbow / and take his arm hard above your left arm and throw him.

If he draws his dagger sooner than you (draw) yours / and stabs above to you / then block the stab with your left arm / and drive outward from inside

Wiltu ihn werffen auff sein ruck / so spring mit deinem rechten beyn auff dein lincke seitten / unnd greif mit deiner rechten handt unden sein rechten arm / so wirffstu ihn über die hüfft.

Disabling stabs
At first and foremost in all dagger fighting is / that you diligently address all stabs / wherever they come / so you can be / in the way with the hand / and quickly attend to your deeds.

Herwiderumb / So dir dein stich underkomen / hab acht das du deins gegenmans stich auch also mit deiner ledigen handt empfahest / damit man dan zur Arbeit / Armbrechen / Füßschrencken und Ringen kompt.

Onward from here / as you come forth with your stab / pay attention that you also block your opponent's stab with your single hand / so that one can then come to the work / arm breaking / foot trapping and wrestling.
Erst Beschliessen
Es ist fürnemlich acht zu haben / alle stich dermassen zuuerfachen / das sie nit angehn / un damit sich am ersten befleissen / den gegen man zu beschliessen / und des Ringens vortheil acht zehaben.
First Lockup
Firstly one must pay attention / to close off all stabs / so that he can't go on / and on his first extraction / to lock up your opponent / and have attention to advantage in wrestling.

So dir dein stich also undernommen / überforteylt / und in die schwech bracht / stoß ihn drauß mit deinr hand in die nähst blöß.
Zemercken das alwege der elpogen der hand mit dem stoß nachvolgen sol. Es gibt ihm ein gwalt / und gutten nachtruck.

As you thus have your stab taken down / cheated / and broken in the weak / thrust out with your hand to his next opening.
Always mark to follow after the elbow with the hand in the thrust. It gives him a forceful / and good push after.

If he stabs you from the Roof / then come ahead and block his right hand with your left and attack him again to the torso.

Ob du deins gegen manns stich mit der handt nit trawest zu empfahen / sonder bsorgst er wird dirs verzucken / So ist am gewissesten / das du ihm entgegen stossest / und mit deinem arm an seinen / in die schweche komest / Far mit deinem tolchenn über / also das du die spitz widder under seinem arme begreiffest / zuck an dich / so entwerest / wie hievor vom schwert auch gmeldt.
Wrenching off
If you do not try to block your opponent's stab with the hand / but rather consider if he would disengage you / then it is upon realising / that you thrust against him / and with your arm on his / come into the weak / drive above with your dagger / so that you grab with the point under his arm / pull to yourself / thus threatening(?) / as was described before with the sword.

As he has thus locked you / thrust quickly with your left to his right shoulder / in the weak / just as soon catch your dagger in the same left hand / let free the right / and as he follows / then catch him with his weakness / then throw him thus nimbly over your right leg.

Außwerffen.
Stoßt einer gegen dir / so empfahe seinen stich mitt deiner lincken handt / stoß also wider mitt deinem tolchen under seinem rechten arm hin / das du damit seinen rugken fassest / Tritt uff seinen rechten fuß mit deinem lincken / wirff ihn also darüber wie du ihn gefaßt / mit beden henden.
Throwing Out
If one stabs toward you / then block his stab with your left hand / then thrust in again with your dagger below his right arm / so that you thus trap his back / step on his right foot with your left / as you trap him then throw him over / with both hands.

So dich einer also gefasset / so lüg das du im schwang dein lincke hand umb seinen hals schlahest / so schwingstu ihn zegleich mit dir umb / und kompst ungeworffen von ihm.

As one has trapped you so | then in the forcing see that you wrap your left hand around his neck / thus you force him around with you / and come away unthrown from him.

Armbrechen
Stoßt dir einer zu / so erwisch ihm die handt / und ker dich schnell mit deim rugken hinder ihn. Erheb dich das du seinen arm uff deiner achseln brechest.
Arm breaking
If one stabs to you / then catch him by the hand / and quickly turn yourself with your back to him. Lift yourself so that you break his arm over your right shoulder.
Bruch
So einer dir deinen arm also uff seiner achseln brechen will / so kere dich in eil umb / schlieff mitt deim kopf under deinem arme hin / schlahe bede hend an sein handt / damit er dich gefaßt / rück sie übersich / den arm uff dein achsel / so thustu ihn was er im sinne gehabt / dir zu thun.
Also kann es fürter ein ieder dem andern nehmen.
Counter
As one would thus break your arm over his right shoulder / then quickly turn yourself around / slip with your head in under his arm / slap both hands onto his hand / the one he trapped you with / pull over over yourself / the arm over your shoulder / then do to him what he has would have / done to you.
Thus onward every one can take the other.
